This 1946 Mercury Woody Station Wagon is a unique piece of automotive history that can haul the entire family! 1946 was the first year of production for Mercury after production ceased in 1942 due to the war effort. Ford also merged its Lincoln and Mercury divisions around this time as well, elevating Mercury's luxury status above the base-line Ford's but staying more modestly priced than the top-of-the-line Lincolns. The 1946 Mercury automobiles retained much of the styling from pre-war versions, but did see the introduction of a newly re-designed grille featuring thin vertical bars. This particular '46 Merc comes to us from a collection in the south, where it spent the past number of years. Under the hood on this Mercury is a 239 Cubic Inch Flathead V8 Engine with a single 2 barrel carburetor that is believed to have been recently rebuilt under previous ownership. The 239 Flatty V8 is hooked up to a a 3 Speed Manual Transmission with a column-mounted "Three-On-The-Tree" shifter that gives this Woody a period correct look and feel. The electrical system has been upgraded to a 12 volt system for improved startup and reliability, and to support the upgraded halogen headlights, LED taillights and added signal/hazard lights. Power front disc brakes have been added as well to provide more stopping power than what was originally available for a Mercury in 1946. The exterior wood paneling on this Woody Wagon is absolutely stunning and is in fantastic shape! The black vinyl top is also in superb condition. The steel exterior has been re-painted in a beautiful Dynamic Maroon that gives the car a truly elevated look. The interior on this 1946 Mercury is gorgeous! The three rows of bench seats have all been reupholstered in a burgundy vinyl and matching seat belts have been added as well. The wood paneling on the doors, walls and roof are all in spectacular shape and have a fantastic look. The dash and steering wheel are all in their stock configuration and present exceptionally well. The dash is equipped with a 110 MPH speedometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, amp gauge, temperature gauge, AM radio and clock. If you're looking to add a unique piece of automotive history to your collection or you're looking for your first collector car that can haul you and all of your friends, this 1946 Mercury Woody Station Wagon would be an excellent choice. Give us a call today!
