Description
Disclaimer:In no way am I claiming to be an expert in anything. Please read the description provided and the images to confirm what you are certain of. I do appreciate added information related to items I have listed.
Please excuse any glare in the photos. This piece is marked on the bottom " at symbol" MAD 2003. The piece features shimmering foil-like shapes in various geometric patterns (reminds me of something that might have been featured in the movie "Ruthless People"). The multi-colored, shiny foil elements absolutely pop with the black-looking glass. When you hold the vase up to the sun and look through to the bottom the glass looks to be a dark amethyst purple. It does look black in all other light though. The vase is nearly 6.50" in height. The top is 3 5/8" across the center, outside to outside. The hold is around 1.25" across the center. The narrow area of the neck is 6.00" around and the fattest portion of the body is 12.00" around. The base is polished. The weight of this piece is 1 pound 12 ounces.
Overall this piece is in really wonderful condition. I cannot feel any obvious mineral deposits on the inside. There areas of scuffing that I could find: one at the top along the rim (this doesn't stand out) and one on the body (see pictures 5 & 6) that has a little depth to it (my thumbnail caught on it). The one on the body is noticeable in comparison to the small area on the neck. The base has scuff marks typical of glass pieces sitting on a hard surface. There are no chips or cracks. Please review the images provided carefully. They are considered as a part of the description.
A note about 'vintage' or 'antique' pieces: they are to be considered preowned. Evidence of some use and/or age should be expected, but damage WILL BE described and photographed.
