Availability: 100 in stock
  • Country/Region of Origin: North America
  • Condition: I sell antiques that were generally made well over 100 years ago by human hands. I try to find the best of the best. The best gilding and decorating, rare and interesting art glass, genuine work (no reproductions here folks!), pieces that will make you proud to display in your collection. Production techniques and quality control were not controlled by robots in modernized factories and as such may have normal production characteristics such as air bubbles, pits, embedded ash or other substances, etc. I generally try to call attention to anything major, so please review the description, and consider all photos as part of the description. These items may have had some gentle usage throughout their life, and as such may have areas of wear to gold gilding, or other use related signs. Anything major (scratches, major wear, etc) will be called out in the description.

    Description

    New England Glassworks Pomona Art Glass Cornflower Angled Creamer
    I couldn't possibly describe it better then Beatrice Smith does in her wonderful (and highly recommended)
    book
    "New England Pomona Portrait of a Nineteenth-Century Art Glass" so I quote her description as noted for the identical Cornflower Angled Creamer as shown on page 241, plate 116:
    Cornflower Angled Creamer, second-patent etching.  Angled, flat-bottomed jug with single handle, faint ball-optic pattern molding.  Straight-sided body expanded outward 1 inch from bottom, then angled inward to wasted neck above which is upright, out-flaring, square-mouthed edge.  Clear, colorless, applied handle.  Amber rim band 1-1/4inches wide, extending slightly below waist and ending in 1/2 inch scallops.  Clear unetched bottom;
    polished
    pontil mark.  Decorated with garland of six blue cornflowers, each with two amber leaves.
    H: 4-1/2".
    Please note that there is one difference between the Cornflower Angled Creamer in her book and this example,  - her example has blue Cornflowers, each with two amber leaves, whereas this example has FOUR amber leaves per Cornflower.  She notes these differences in Chapter Six in the Decorations, or "Ornamentation" of Cornflower, showing they did a variety from two leaves to as many as six.
    Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks repairs, etc.
    The handling fee covers eBay mandated insurance, packing supplies, etc.
    I strive to get all fives in my eBay seller feedback, and work hard to achieve that. I gladly leave positive feedback to those that give high fives feedback.
    Thanks for looking, please ask questions, good luck!
