    HISTORY/MARKS:
Morimura Bros. formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake.  Noritake Company has a rich history of producing fine bone china all the way from  January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed.  The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911.  The backstamp on all 6 plates is the Maruki "Spider" mark.  According to the Noritake Collectors Guild, the Maruki symbol is the corporation motif of the Morimura Kumi Group of Companies.  The Maruki symbol was used not only for Morimura backstamps, but also for Noritake backstamps.  Joan Van Patten, in ABC’s of Collecting Nippon Porcelain, lists this as mark #180 used 1912-1918.
