Description
This listing is for a pair of antique Japanese Nippon hand painted porcelain cabinet vases. The vases measures 6 1/2 inches high to the top of the handles and are 5 1/4" at their widest. The vases have a low round foot which supports the round bodies with squared handles on either side. The rim is slightly flared. The porcelain has an apple green colored ground with a hand painted landscape scene on either side. Around the front panels are heavy gold beading and enameling with draping chains and bows. The handles sit slightly above the top rim and connect to the shoulders of the body. They are signed on the bottom with the "M" in the Maple leaf in wreath "Nippon" and "Hand Painted". The M is for Morimura Brothers which used this mark from 1910-1911. The condition is very good with no chips, cracks or repairs, there is some minor rubbing to the heavy applied gold on the rims and handles. This listing is for a pair of antique Japanese Nippon hand painted porcelain cabinet vases. The vases measures 6 1/2 inches high to the top of the handles and are 5 1/4" at their widest.
The vases have a low round foot which supports the round bodies with squared handles on either side. The rim is slightly flared. The porcelain has an apple green colored ground with a hand painted landscape scene on either side. Around the front panels are heavy gold beading and enameling with draping chains and bows. The handles sit slightly above the top rim and connect to the shoulders of the body. They are signed on the bottom with the "M" in the Maple leaf in wreath "Nippon" and "Hand Painted". The M is for Morimura Brothers which used this mark from 1910-1911.
