The World Fountain Pen
The World Fountain Pen is the basic model for realizing the idea of connecting the world together through art.
From now on, WANCHER will use this model as a material to create World Fountain Pens with beautiful art from Japan and around the world.
The materials for the World Fountain Pen are carefully selected from natural precious woods around the world, such as ebony and sandalwood. The World Fountain Pen is then fitted with a fumed silver clip and various other traditional arts such as lacquer and maki-e to create a new work of art.
Tsugaru Lacquer
Tsugaru-nuri or Tsugaru-urushi refers to lacquerware made in Tsugaru Town in Aomori Prefecture. Tsugaru lacquerware is known as one of the most skilled lacquer techniques and has a unique finish that is sophisticated and stunningly beautiful.
The World Tsugaru Fountain Pen is made by Tsugaru-nuri, which is known for its vivid speckled patterns called Karanuri. Four to six different types of lacquer are applied in various color combinations in an uneven manner, and then the lacquer is sharpened at the end of the process to create a unique speckled pattern on the cut surface.
It takes six to seven months to complete the process, which is done entirely by hand.
There are a variety of variations depending on the color of the ground, etc. The final finish is a top coat called "Kuro-age" or "Aka-age".
